Tesla to launch Cybercab robotaxi service in Dallas in November 2026
“In fact, next month, we'll be launching in Dallas and then the same software just scaled to lots of other cities along with the Model Y Robotaxis.”
Context: Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla's head of AI software, on Tesla's third-quarter 2026 earnings call (21 Oct 2026), answering a shareholder question on how the Cybercab fleet scales past Austin: "We launched in Austin, but that's only because we had some cabs … there's no fundamental reason that we are limited to Austin." "Next month" is November 2026. Tesla's Robotaxi service already runs in Dallas with Model Y vehicles; the new commitment is for the Cybercab. Wording from The Motley Fool transcript; StockAnalysis and EVWire transcribe it as "next month we'll be launching in Dallas, and then the same software just scales/scaled to lots of other cities". Sources: (1) The Motley Fool transcript; (2) StockAnalysis transcript; (3) EVWire, "Tesla's Cybercab heads to Dallas next month" (22 Oct 2026); (4) CyberCab.News ("public, unsupervised Cybercab rides will begin in Dallas next month"). Tesla does not publish an official text transcript.
How we judge it
Our interpretation: kept if by 30 Nov 2026 Tesla Cybercab vehicles (the two-seat purpose-built robotaxi) are giving rides to members of the public in the Dallas area through Tesla's Robotaxi service, as shown by Tesla, the Robotaxi app or account, or credible reporting. A limited or invite-only public launch counts; employee-only rides, testing without public riders, or Model Y robotaxis alone do not. Broken if no public Cybercab rides are available in Dallas by 30 Nov 2026.
