Context: Elon Musk in an interview with China Global Television Network released on 26 Sep 2026, as reported by Business Insider (29 Sep 2026). A transcript of the same interview (spoken.md) has the sentence "And probably by middle of next year, it'll be operating commercially in California." Business Insider notes Tesla still had to resolve an NHTSA audit query into its self-certification of the vehicle.
How we judge it
Our interpretation: correct if by 30 Jun 2027 Tesla's Cybercab (the two-seat vehicle with no steering wheel or pedals) carries paying members of the public in commercial service somewhere in California.
