Colossus 2's "Gun Range" training cluster to be operational by the end of November 2026 and its "Spam" inference cluster in December 2026
“Gun Range is tracking to be operational by end of November and Spam in December.”
Context: Elon Musk on X, 31 Oct 2026, in a reply about the Colossus 2 AI data-center campus in Memphis (SpaceX, which acquired xAI). In the same post he said the existing Macroharder and Minihard buildings "both have 220k GB300s with 800 gig nics configured for training. Gun Range will have the same. Spam (used to house Hormel products) will have ~200k GB300s, but configured for inference". In another reply the same day he said: "There will be a total of around 1.2M Blackwells at Colossus 2 by end of year" (not graded here; see the report). Sources: (1) Musk's X post (primary, full text via the X API); (2) Business Insider, 1 Nov 2026 (quotes the sentence); (3) TeslaNorth, 31 Oct 2026 (quotes the sentence); (4) Converge Digest, 1 Nov 2026 ("Musk targets Gun Range and Spam for November and December").
How we judge it
Our interpretation: kept if the Gun Range building at Colossus 2 (about 220,000 NVIDIA GB300 GPUs, configured for training) is operational, i.e. running AI workloads, by 30 Nov 2026 and the Spam building (about 200,000 GB300s, configured for inference) is operational by 31 Dec 2026, as shown by SpaceX/xAI statements (including Musk's own posts if they say the building is running), NVIDIA, or credible reporting. Partly kept if both are operational by 31 Dec 2026 but Gun Range only in December, or if only one of the two is operational by 31 Dec 2026. Broken if neither is operational by 31 Dec 2026. A partly filled building counts if SpaceX describes it as operational; exact GPU counts are not graded.
